The Sony S Link Resource in Hardware Suppliers Directory

The Sony SLink Resource Center This is a page devoted to understanding the Sony SLink protocol. Here youll find links with information on SLink, and a bulletin board where you can talk with other SLink adventurers. SLink is a protocol used by Sony AV components to talk to each other. It encompasses ControlS, an overall control protocol based on IR codes, ControlA1, a bidirectional protocol used to get CD information from CD players, and ControlL, a time protocol used by highend video components. Since most of the new Sony components have an SLink connector, and since Sony sells a box CAV1 or CAV2 which allows a computer to talk SLink, it should be possible to build intelligent AV systems based on SLink. I have heard of several people trying to do this; unfortunately, I know of few successes, in part because it seems SLink is poorly documented and understood.
